Thankful Thursday {1.18.24}: Snow Edition

Sometimes it is good to stop and think about what we are thankful for. Life gets hectic and sometimes it seems like everything is falling apart. But there is ALWAYS something to be thankful for, no matter how small. So, here is what I am thankful for today.

This week has been a work-from-home week because the South got snow! It is rare. We have basically shut down until the roads are clear. So, since everything I am thankful for this time involves the snow, we will call this the “Snow Edition” of Thankful Thursday.

I am thankful that I have the opportunity, and means, to work from home. Not having to worry about whether to try and get out on the roads and get to the building has been such a blessing! I do feel for those who have to get out in it to go to work.

I am thankful to live close enough to a grocery store that, if we were to need something, I could walk the mile there and the mile back (the roads are WAY too slick to drive). Plus, it’d give me exercise since I haven’t had more than going from the office, to the living room, to the kitchen, etc. HAHA

I am thankful that my grandmother lives close enough (across the street) that we can easily check on her. She used to live about 20 miles away. She had a pipe that burst (the temperature got down to -9 yeah I know!) so we had to turn her water off until the plumber could get here to fix it. Because we were across the street, we were able to take her water and check on her and her cat.

Lastly, I am thankful to have been able to have this time to slow down. While I love what I do, 2024 was starting at full throttle. It would have been fine, and I would have survived, but being snowed/iced in has definitely allowed for a slowdown. I have gotten more work done than I probably would have if not for the “snow”down.

Love that thought about not finding the joy in the snow! I need to remember that one….the snow doesn’t usually bring me joy. More of a bad attitude. Then I just have the same amount of snow and a lousy day. Sigh. Glad everyone is doing ok with your snow in the south:)

I love the snow, but it does help to look at it with joy (and really could be applied to so many different things).
