Let’s Look: How I Host Holiday Parties

Today I’m going to look at: how I host holiday parties. For any great holiday (Christmas) party, there must be food and decorations. However, I don’t host holiday parties, but if I did, these are the ideas I would draw from 🙂

Food

For Christmas, I’m more of an hors d’oeuvres person. I like dips, more than most other things…and soups. To put it briefly, I like dips and soups for Christmas. Now, I’m not going to turn down a dessert at Christmas (now more so than ever, since I’ve been cutting out LOTS of carbs) but as far as what I’m planning for…it’s dips and soups:)

Decorations

When hosting parties, the main places your guests will see is the kitchen/dining, the entry way (which sometimes includes a staircase), and the outside/entrance to your house. These are some of my favorites that I found for each.

For that traditional red & green color scheme, I love these centerpieces. Get jars or glasses, some cranberries (or any red berry), some greenery, and floating candles and you have a simple, but beautiful centerpiece.

Lanterns seem to be available in decor stores so this centerpiece would be really simple as well.

I also like a winter-white color scheme.

This winter white color scheme has a vintage Santa and birch. I love it!

Moving outside of the kitchen & dining room, I love seeing Christmas decoations throughout the house. While I love it, we do not have that much decoration because, one, somebody has to put it all out and put it all back up, and two, we have 3 curious yet adorable:) cats so we would be constantly rearranging/re-hanging decorations.

For a fireplace & mantle, I like the white, browns, and green in these decorations.

For a red and green color scheme, I like more green (garland) but I do want that pop of red.

Also, with the red & green, I like this simple, yet beautiful, Christmas mantle & fireplace.

Entry ways & staircases are great places to add that Christmas cheer 🙂 These are a few of my favorites.

For the red & green, again, I like more green in the garland but that pop of red just finishes it!

I love this simple black and white.

Welcoming your guests to your Christmas party starts at the front door and I’m loving these!

black, white, and silver = LOVE!!

I love all of the greenery and the ornaments!

I love some planters and lanterns! Simple but bold!

Again, these are not my personal decorations but if I was doing holiday party hosting, these are where I would draw inspiration from.
