A Well-Traveled Hodgepodge [6.17.26]

Happy Wednesday, friends! It’s time for Joyce‘s Wednesday Hodgepodge linkup. Let’s do this!! Here are this week’s questions with my answers in italics.

1. June 17th, 1994, was the day of the infamous O.J. Simpson car chase. What were you doing in 1994? I’m guessing somebody is going to tell me they weren’t born yet, but that’s part of the fun of the Hodgepodge. Lots of generations are represented here.

I was 11. I remember seeing it on TV, but that’s about it.

2. What’s your favorite summer salad that isn’t the traditional tossed green lettuce kind of salad? Do you like fresh fruit in a salad (other than in a fruit salad, of course)?

Pasta salad? I am probably weird, but I do not like fruit in my salad. I like salad, and I like fruit, but I don’t want them mixed together. I want to eat them separately LOL

3. Is chivalry dead? Should it be?

I do not think chivalry is dead. It could probably be revived some, but it’s not dead. I don’t think it should either. It is always a good thing to be polite, kind, and unselfish toward others.

4. Would you rather spend a week of your summer vacation in Hawaii or Alaska? Have you ever been to either? Are there two places you really would like to see? How do you feel about ‘Hawaiian pizza’ aka pineapple on a pizza? Have you ever eaten Baked Alaska?

Well, I have been to Hawaii in October, and it was nice then, and I figure summer is about the same. I have been to Alaska in December, and I know it looks completely different in the snow than in the summer, so I would rather spend a week of summer vacation in Alaska.

There are more than two places I would really like to see HAHA

I have never tried a Hawaiian pizza, but I am not opposed to it. I actually have had a Baked Alaska!

5. World Cup play is happening now…are you interested? Watching any matches? Did you or your children play soccer/futbol? There are eleven US cities hosting matches-Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York with the stadium in NJ, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Seattle; along with  three cities in Mexico (Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey); and two in Canada (Toronto and Vancouver). You get free tickets to one of these matches. Which city do you choose? Tell us why.

I am not really interested, and I’m not watching any matches. I did not play soccer.

If I got free tickets to one of the matches, I would choose Seattle or Vancouver. I have only been through the airport in Seattle, so I would like to go and visit. I’ve never been to Vancouver, and it looks like somewhere I would like to visit.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

The next two weeks are full of activity, and I’m here for it (for the most part). My sinuses have decided to act up at the most inopportune time, of course.

  1. Kim Carberry

I was 14 and remember hearing about the car chase but didn’t think much of it.
How great that you got to visit Hawaii.
Oh no! I hope your sinuses are feeling better soon and don’t ruin your plans.

  2. Joyce

I’ve been to a lot of the cities on the list so chose one I haven’t seen yet. We could easily go to a match in Atlanta but ticket prices are way more than I want to pay. I love a pasta salad and it did not occur to me for a second when I answered the question. Enjoy all the activities coming your way.
