Why I’m Thankful For Books

This week’s topic:

1. It allows me to travel without a plane ticket

I don’t have a problem with flying and traveling; I just don’t have the amount of vacation days it would take to travel as much as I would like. With a book, I can travel every night if I want to!

2. They taught me spelling as a child.

There are some words that I definitely learned to spell just from reading them in a book. To this day, I can still see them in the book where I read it, and thus learned to spell it.

3. They are an escape.

This doesn’t mean traveling. That is something entirely different. The escape is from the every day, from the news, from life. Stressful day? Read a book. For me, let me read a mystery (but not too heavy) and I will be trying to figure out who did it, and not worrying about my day/days.

4. Books are a fun addiction 🙂

As I type this, my TBR list is getting bigger and bigger. I have a growing number of stacks that need to be read…and I keep buying LOL

5. I learn things.

I don’t mean just the spelling as I mentioned earlier. I mean, facts and information.

6. It allows me to go back in time.

I can read and learn about the past, and be able to almost re-live it.

7. They create a community.

I mean, here we are on Top Ten Tuesday (thank you, Jana)!

8. Book covers.

Pretty, color-themed, object-themed (certain subjects or scenes), etc.

9. The characters & the storyline.

Some we love, some we hate, some we love to hate. Also, the mystery, the love story, the conflict/resolution…all of it!

10. They just make me happy 🙂

See #1 through #9 🙂

I didn’t think about “They introduce readers to people from all walks of life.” Great list of reasons!
