Monthly Musings: Thanksgiving & Holiday Prep

It’s time for another Monthly Musing!! We are a week early this time because next Thursday is Thanksgiving! But today, we are here to muse about Thanksgiving and Holiday Prep.

1. Favorite Thanksgiving dishes?

Dressing, ham, & deviled eggs.

Last year’s meal, but this year’s will be almost identical

2. Stuffing or dressing?

Dressing! This is the Southern US. We do dressing 🙂

3. Are you hosting any of the holidays this year? Please share your tips.

I am not hosting anything, but I will say, don’t stress. Things do not have to be perfect. If someone who is coming to the house is that worried about it, they can host next year 😉

4. Turkey trot or football game?

Turkey trot! I have been known to “follow” a football game, because Thanksgiving is the day that the rival universities in the state play against each other, and one of them is my alma mater, but I would much rather run than watch the game.

5. If you decorate for Christmas, do you decorate before or after Thanksgiving?

Always before Thanksgiving! It has been the first weekend of November when the Christmas tree and inside decorations go up, but the past few years, we’ve had things going on that weekend, so it goes up earlier…in October LOL. I do wait until Thanksgiving night, or the next day, to put the outside decorations out.

6. Are your holidays sit-down meals or more casual affairs?

Thanksgiving is a sit-down meal. Christmas is casual.

7. Pumpkin or apple pie? Another dessert?

Pumpkin pie, definitely!

8. Are you traveling for Thanksgiving or staying closer to home?

Staying AT home 🙂

9. Do you Black Friday shop?

No, unless you count online. Have I already shopped? Yes. The planner I get every year has an Early Access Black Friday discount and other special deals, so my 2026 calendar is already on its way.

10. Thing you are most looking forward to this holiday season?

All of the holiday festivities: Friendsgiving get-together & food; Thanksgiving food; Ladies Christmas at church; local Christmas parades; the local symphony’s Christmas performance; the Christmas play at church; and Sunday School Christmas parties.
