A Racket of a Hodgepodge [11.19.25]

Happy Wednesday, friends! Let’s do this!! It’s time for Joyce‘s Wednesday Hodgepodge linkup! Here are this week’s questions with my answers in italics.

1. Let’s do our gratitude question first this week…what’s the best thing about your home, and have you taken time to enjoy it lately?

My home is comfortable. I enjoy it every day!

2. Do you like squash? Of the varieties listed, which one’s your favorite and how do you like it prepared? Is squash of some sort on your Thanksgiving menu??

acorn, butternut, delicata, spaghetti, zucchini, crookneck (yellow squash), patty pan

I have had butternut, spaghetti, zucchini, crookneck, and patty pan squash. If I’ve had any of the others, I don’t remember them. My favorite is probably crookneck, made into squash dressing:) Squash of any sort is not currently on the menu for Thanksgiving, but then again, Thanksgiving is still a week away.

3. Last time you were ‘squashed in’ somewhere, or felt squashed?

The last time I was “squashed in” somewhere was on the bus in Rome. Not a fan LOL

4.  Have you ever played squash? What about other ‘racquet sports’ such as racquetball, tennis, pickleball, badminton, and table tennis (ping pong)? Are these sports something you enjoy?

I have never played squash. I have played tennis, badminton, and table tennis. I do enjoy playing them, but I don’t have the opportunity to very often.

5. Something in today’s society or culture that feels like a ‘racket’ to you? If you don’t like that one, tell us about a place you’ve been recently where there was a lot of ‘racket’.

The constant request for handouts is a racket! I’m not talking about the individuals who legitimately need help. I mean the ones who are very capable and able-bodied, but are just lazy and don’t want to work for anything. Not trying to be mean in any way, but I did say what I said. <–I felt this way before *see below*, but today, I just didn’t care to put it out there LOL

6. Insert your own random thought here.

So, it’s not actually random, and it’s the first time I’m putting it out on the blog, but I lost my job on Monday. They are “downsizing”. Yes, I was upset and I cried, but I knew then and still know now that God has something so much better for me. So, I am not discouraged!

I am not a fan of buses either but if I want to get about, I have to use them.
I totally agree with you about the handouts. I am so sorry you lost your job. I hope another one comes along soon.

  2. Jennifer

What a good atttitude. Will be praying that God shows you exactly where He wants you next. Much to be thankful for…even on the hard weeks!

  3. Joyce

I’m sorry about your job. It’s hard I’m sure, but you have the right attitude. I find with blogging if we can talk about hard things we get lots of encouragement here. Take care and I will add you to my prayers, that just the right thing comes along soon.
