[MAY] 2022: Book Review

It’s time to look at the books I read in May!

The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman

★★★★.75

In a quiet peaceful retirement village, four septaugenarians meet weekly to discuss unsolved murders, and they call themselves “The Thursday Murder Club”. Soon, a local developer is murdered and they find themselves with a real-life murder case. They have a few tricks up their sleeves thanks to former careers and interests they had in their younger years, plus, they are able to get answers that the police cannot because, really, who is going to expect a group of septaugenarians to actually be investigating a murder? But, as bodies start to pile up, will they figure it out in time? I will admit, I struggled to get into the book at the beginning but I do believe it was all me…life still happens so I just wasn’t into it. However, it didn’t take long to really get into it, because as soon as the murder happened, I was already trying to figure out who did it. I think I had each person in the book pegged as the murderer at some point throughout the plot, but would then suspect someone else pretty quickly. Once I “allowed” myself to get into the book, I realized how great the storyline was and really enjoyed the author’s writing…so much so that I plan to read the next two books in The Thursday Murder Club Mystery series by Osman.
