[JUNE] 2021: Book Review

It’s time to look at the books I read in June!

Little Beach Street Bakery by Jenny Colgan

Polly decides to get away from it all (her failed relationship and financial downfall)
and move to the small seaside resort town of Polbearne. She doesn’t have much
money but she manages to find, and fall in love with (its charm) a small flat
above an abandoned shop. In order to distract herself from her troubles, she
starts baking, her favorite hobby. She soon starts trying different ingredients,
including a local honey from the local, handsome beekeeper. I love that this
book has a little bit of adventure, a little love story, and is set in an English beach
      town.

The Lost Man by Jane Harper

Two brothers meet at the boundary of their outback Queensland properties, at the
site of the stockman’s grave. Today, they are not there for the grave; they are there
because their brother Cameron’s body has been found. Was it suicide? Murder?
Natural causes due to the unrelenting sun and harsh conditions of the almost remote
Australian outback? In the process of finding out what happened to Cameron, long
buried (but not entirely forgotten) secrets, both past and present, are discovered. I
enjoyed reading about the Australian outback, and the stuggles and isolation
involved, but the plot was so well written, I couldn’t wait to read more!
