//CURRENTLY : {December} 2022

So, Anne, at In Residence, has decided to take a break (she has a new baby and a son in elementary school, and well, life gets full…so I don’t blame her) from hosting a linkup on the first Wednesday of every month where readers shared what they are currently up to according to 5 different prompts each month.

However, Jennifer, at Overflowing with Thankfulness, has taken up the hosting duties on her blog, so I am joining in with her, and from time to time, may add in some of my own 🙂

LOVING

boot, sweater, and hoodie weather! Staying at home in PJs with a blanket and a book is the coziest, but if you just have to get dressed and get out, nothing is more cozier than books, sweaters, and hoodies 🙂

GIFTING

I have not started this but I hope to, eventually, but going with the Icelandic tradition of Jolabokaflod (which means “Christmas book flood”)as inspiration, I would love to have a group friends who are also book nerds give books to each other on Christmas Eve. Jolabokaflod was started during WWIl, when paper was one of the few things that was rationed. Since it was easy to get paper, books were easy to get as well so people began giving each other books for Christmas.

WRAPPING

a Christmas ornament for the ornament exchange (eh, steal) for our church’s Ladies Christmas party. It is like dirty Santa, but with ornaments. It is very entertaining, but extremely fun!

HOPING

these bookends work for holding up the “loose” books in my room. I have books that are on my “TBR soon” lists and I don’t want to have to look for them later so I have them in my room, but they are in an “unruly” stack lol

ATTENDING

lots and lots of Christmas festivities, and I love it! Last weekend, it was our local Christmas parade & tree lighting (I was a caroler), then the local Symphony’s Christmas concert, and the Ladies Christmas Party at church. This coming weekend, it will be a local production of The Nutcracker, and the Church Christmas dinner.

…also…

DRINKING

coffee & hot chocolate! It’s that time of year. Now, I just need to get some apple cider and/or wassail and I’ll be good to go! If you would like to try wassail at home, this is a good, but easy recipe I found.

READING

MAKING

plans for the New Year (not NYE lol). I am working on church things, local runs that I always participate in, vacations, yearly community events I attend, etc.

BUYING

bookends to organize books, desk organizers…all the things to help me get even more organized. It’s crazy most of the time, so the more I can be organized, the better it will go hopefully.

NEEDING

to figure out which races I will train for and run in 2023. This past year has been a struggle because I started new medicine and it took a while to adjust so I was not able to run like I needed, and wanted, to. (Plus, it was really hot this summer and the first longer run outside literally made me sick…so threadmill running it was for the summer – I’d rather be outside running so it was more “dreadmill” running)

EATING

hamburgers or I should say hamburger patties. I am currently addicted to them so I’ve been eating them a lot lately.

THINKING

about what books to put on my January and February TBR lists. I have a long list of books that I want to read in the winter (whether this winter or the next) so I just need to look through it and decide when I will read which books.

WRITING

blog posts. I’ve been on a roll lately and I’m not mad about it! I have finally been able to accomplish what I’ve wanted to do since I started the blog 13 years ago.

I’m so glad you joined in with us today, Rachel! I love the book tradition that started in Iceland. We have friends who live there and were able to visit them about twelve years ago. That’s when we first heard about that tradition! I am an avid reader, so I love giving books as gifts. I also love the idea of giving something to wear, something to read, something you want and something you need.

I love those bookends! How adorable are they? I love quirky home decor and those fall into that category. I love that you were recently a caroler!

Quirky! That’s what I thought about the bookends too! 🙂

I love joining in! Thank you for hosting!

Found you via Jennifer’s link up and wanted to say congrats on your recent blog streak! Hope you have a wonderful rest of the month.

Oh I love gifting books! My middle son asked for only books this year and I think I’ve bought him a good 12!! He had a great list of suggestions and I know he’ll devour them all in no time. That Christmas ornament exchange sounds so fun. I’ve started thinking about my January reading list too and I’m going to have to narrow it down… I have far too many on the list to tackle in one month.

I love that your son asked for only books!

My TBR list is extremely long so I need to just go ahead and figure out which books will be read which month, for all of 2023. Maybe that’s how I need to go about shorten the TBR list HA!

I think Jolabokaflud is such a delightful holiday tradition, and I love receiving books so it would make it easy for people to shop for me! 😉 Some of my family would be more difficult to shop for though. Thanks for the wassail recipe – I was thinking about making it this year and didn’t bring my recipes with me when I moved. Visiting from Currently#19
