Our topic for this week is: buzzwords that make me want to read (or avoid) a book. I decided to list five that make me want to read a book, and five that make me want to avoid a book.

Makes Me Want to Read
1. Cozy
Who doesn’t love cozy?
2. Historical Fiction
I’m not a huge history fan, but there is just something about historical fiction that draws me in.
3. Snowed In
Romance, murder mystery…if there is snow, I’m here for it!
4. Set in Italy, Scotland, England, Iceland, etc.
If a book is set in a place that I have visited, or would like to visit, I am probably going to read it.
5. Cat on the Cover
If a cat is on the cover, and I know that nothing will happen to it, I will read that book!
Makes Me Want to Avoid
6. Demons
ABSOLUTELY NOT!! There is enough going on without inviting them into my reading, too!
7. Fantasy
I know some people like it, but it just isn’t my thing.
8. Science Fiction
Again, it’s just not my thing.
9. Pets, particularly cats and dogs
Unless I know for sure that they aren’t going to die, I probably won’t risk it. Losing a pet in real life is bad enough; I don’t want to also read about it.
10. Losing a family member
Real life is already sad enough. I don’t want to also lose a “family member” in a book.
