[AUGUST] 2022: Book Review

It’s time to look at the books I read in August!

Home: A Memoir of My Early Years by Julie Andrews

★★★★.5

I love LOVE Mary Poppins so when I saw, three years ago, that Julie Andrews had a biography, I was all for it! So, I bought the book. However, for no fault of the book or the writing, I started it but didn’t finish it. I guess I just wasn’t in a place at the time to be interested. But, recently, I was looking through my stack of books that I have bought in recent years that I still needed to read (I know I’m not the only one HA!) so, I found this book in that stack, and this time, I was interested again, and ready to commit. So, I started reading it again, and finished it! As the title says, it is about her early years, from her birth in Britain in 1935 to 1962, when Walt Disney saw her on Broadway and offered her the role of the world famous nanny (and in my opinion, the world famous FAVORITE nanny) so the book ends as she is offered the role of Mary Poppins. If you are like me, and it leaves you wanting to know the rest of her story, there is a second memoir: Home Work: A Memoir of My Hollywood Years. I will be reading it soon!
