It’s time to look at the book I read in May!

How to Test Negative For Stupid – John Kennedy
★★★★★
Unless your head has been in the sand, you know who John Kennedy is. He says what he thinks (and it is usually what we all think), and he says it in his Louisiana way that makes it so much funnier.
This book is not just about his “Kennedy-isms” but it tells the story of his life, from his childhood all the way through his legall career, and into his current political career.
Whether you agree with the politics or not, it is still a great read, and you might even pick up some funny “Kennedy-isms” that you use later.
The Half Life – Rachel Beanland
★★★★.5

This historical fiction story starts in Charleston, SC, in the 1970s, where we meet Eileen. She meets Paul, a Naval officer, and they have a whirlwind romance that leads to marriage, and immediately, a move to Italy, where Paul has been stationed. Paul has been assigned to work on United States nuclear submarines. The submarines are believed, by the people on the island, to be leaking into the Mediterranean. Soon, Eileen is torn between loyalty to her husband and environmental concerns for the island and its residents. She begans to question her beliefs, her marriage and even herself.
While there was more “spice” than I cared for (yes, they are a newly married, young couple, but we all know what they do without needing details), the plot of this book was so well written that I could not put the book down! I wanted to know what happened next! I gave it four stars because there are no half stars, but my actual rating would be at least a 4.5 out of 5 stars.
If you like historical fiction and some romance, this is the book for you.
