Happy Wednesday, friends! It’s time for Joyce‘s Wednesday Hodgepodge linkup. Let’s do this!! Here are this week’s questions with my answers in italics.
1. I live in the south so we’re pretty much only talking about the weather right now. Give us a weather report from where you live. Does the kind of weather you’re having today affect your mood in some way?
I live in one of the hardest-hit counties in Mississippi (we even made it onto the Weather Channel :/ ), but living in the downtown area, we were able to get power back on in under 48 hours. But there are still thousands upon thousands who still do not have electricity, heat, and/or water. Things are improving as crews work harder than we can imagine, in extremely cold conditions, to get everything up and running again. We could all, including the crews cleaning up and restoring, use prayers. However, we are thankful. God has kept us. (These pictures do not show how bad it really is. These are just a few that are close to my neighborhood.)
I wouldn’t say this weather affects my mood, other than to remind me that we still have so much to be thankful for!
2. Avocados, kale, cauliflower and cottage cheese have all had their time to shine. 2026 brings us the year of the cabbage. Is this a vegetable you like? If so, what are some of your favorite dishes that call for cabbage?
I do like cabbage! One of my favorite ways to eat it is boiled!
3. Was a Cabbage Patch Doll a part of your childhood? Or maybe your children’s childhood? What’s a toy trend from your childhood you remember wanting for your own?
Yes, I do remember having a Cabbage Patch doll. I don’t have kids so…
4. Something you’ve spent a lot of time doing lately?
Staying warm. Also, running (until it got too icy).
5. Somehow it’s the last week of January…sum up your month in just three sentences.
(1) Winter is my favorite running season.
(2) I loved starting the new year with a revival at church!
(3) Ice Storm 2026 (Fern) needs to go on and leave us alone!
