“Share 4” Saturday [11.29.25]

It’s the last Saturday of the month! It’s time for the “bonus” Saturday post! I’m linking up with Jennifer from My Joyful Life. She hosts the link-up every last Saturday.

Now, let’s get to what we are here for: some things I loved, some things I learned, some things that went well & some things I let go of.

LOVED

I loved Italy 🙂 posts coming soon!

LEARNED

I learned that a “pone of cornbread” is actually a thing. In the South, some words aren’t real words. They’ve just been “created”, maybe by mixing words, or it is pronounced differently, and therefore, becomes common. So, when my mom was working on the cornbread for the dressing for Thanksgiving, I said something about a “pone of cornbread”. That made me curious if it was a made-up Southern word, or actually a real word. According to Google/Wikipedia, “the term “pone” most likely entered English from Native American language terms like apan, oppone or supawn, meaning baked, possibly related to earlier ash cakes baked in hot coals. A “corn pone” is usually a small round loaf of cornbread, about the size of a biscuit, traditionally baked in a round cast iron skillet.” Cornbread is not the size of a biscit but is baked in a round cast iron skillet, hence, a pone of cornbread.

WENT WELL

Thanksgiving went well. My mom and I enjoyed eating Thanksgiving dinner together. We had a wonderful time, as always.

LET GO OF

I have let go of the routine of getting up every morning to go to work :/ I was let go (“cutbacks”) the Monday I returned from vacation. But! I am okay! God will provide. I am not stressing. As they say, as one door closes, another opens, so this was just a door closing so another can open 🙂

*linking up with Jennifer for “Share 4 Somethings”.
