Weekend Update [7.21.25]

It was a jam-packed weekend, but still a good one! We’ll call it the weekend of the Pastor’s Office project. Some of you may recall that, approximately three months ago, our church experienced a flood. Our renovated/expanded sanctuary was almost complete, and it flooded as well. But! A restoration company came in and had us ready for Easter Sunday! Our pastor’s office was also affected by the flood, and although the drywall was replaced and repainted, the desk and furniture were not. So, it was time for an update! That’s where we come in, or should I say, my mom comes in. She designed a new office for the pastor. Since the new furniture is set to be delivered this Wednesday, we had to finish clearing out the old, repainting (the restoration folks do not remove nails and screws before painting), and cleaning the floors multiple times.

Friday

Friday afternoon and night, we started clearing out the rest of the old furniture and cleaned the floors. We were there until around 8 or 9, and we were tired!

Saturday

Saturday morning, everything was still tired and sore from the night before, so I did not run. We got up without an alarm, read scriptures…

…made/drank coffee, got dressed, stopped at Lowe’s for supplies, stopped for breakfast, and then headed back to the church. We had to paint the former closet (which will soon be converted into a bathroom) to match the office, and then paint the office, the same color, due to patching the holes that the restoration crew left :/

A little after lunchtime, while the paint finished drying, we went back home to feed the cats, left, stopped at Lowes again, stopped for coffee at Starbucks and had a late lunch at Chick-fil-A and then headed back down to the church. We still had the trim left to paint. We were there again until probably 7 or 8, and then headed home for showers and to get a few things done before church the next morning.

Sunday

Of course, we stopped for coffee on the way to church. We did not have our Next Step classes, but we had Sunday School like usual. That was great, like always, but what made it more fun was that we celebrated National Ice Cream Day at the end.

After Sunday School, we had an amazing time of worship, and then our children went to Children’s Church, and the pastor spoke on “The Grace to Get Up”. (You are welcome to watch it here.) He spoke on it last weekend, but continued on it this Sunday. He used the illustration of the paralyzed man, whose friends couldn’t get him through the door to Jesus because of the crowd, so they got on top of the roof and made a hole in the roof, and lowered him down.

I took this picture because I thought it was cool when I looked down…and I like these shoes 🙂

After church, my mom and I went to a local restaurant to eat lunch and came back to the church to continue working on the pastor’s “new” office. We needed to clean the floors again, and then lay the new area rug. The praise team had practice after church, so my friend ended up helping us for a little bit, before she went to her aunt’s house to rest because…

…we had our Care Group get-together that night. Unfortunately, I took zero pictures of this, but we ate grilled burgers and homemade ice cream. It was a nice night of fellowship and good food. After this, we came home and crashed for the night!

Happy Monday!
