Happy Wednesday, friends! Let’s do this!! It’s time for Joyce‘s Wednesday Hodgepodge linkup! Here are this week’s questions with my answers in italics.

1. What does freedom mean to you?
As a citizen of the United States of America, freedom means that I can worship as I want, live/act as I want, make my own choices, go to church where I want…you get the point! I never want to take this for granted either!
As a Christian, freedom means that I am free from the bondage of sin. True freedom comes through faith in Jesus Christ. John 8:36 says, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

2. How will you celebrate Independence Day this year? If you live outside the USA, answer this question as it relates to your own country’s patriotic holiday, wherever that may land on the calendar.
Our church is sponsoring a community event with free food and drinks, live music, and testimonies in a little downtown park. I am excited about it!
3. This or that…red, white, or blue? Stars or stripes? Watermelon, homemade ice cream, or blueberry pie? How do you feel about fireworks?
red, white, or blue? It depends on what the color is in/on, but red & blue are in a very close tie.
Stars or stripes? Again, it depends, but for clothing, stripes.
Watermelon, homemade ice cream, or blueberry pie? Homemade ice cream every time! I have to be in the mood for watermelon.
How do you feel about fireworks? I like fireworks, but only in a more rural setting. I know that it bothers some older folks, and folks with PTSD, and also most pets, so I am not a fan of it in town, and around civilization. I know it is a “freedom” that people like to exercise, but I still don’t like it outside of a fireworks community event.
4. What have you purchased recently that made you excited?
These shoes. They were needed to replace a pair that was falling apart, but these new ones go with so much…and they are comfortable!

5. I’m thankful to live in America because____________.
…freedom. We are free to believe how we want to believe, worship how we want to worship, speak freely, and vote how we want, based on our beliefs and values.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
