Monthly Musings : Holidays and Ringing in the New Year

It’s time for another Monthly Musing!! We are a week early this time because next Thursday is Christmas! But today, we are here to muse about the holidays and ringing in the New Year.

1. What holidays do you celebrate?

Christmas and New Year’s.

2. Scale of 1 to 10 – how into the holidays are you this year? Be honest.

I would say 9-10, seriously! I love Christmas and all of the festivities!

3. Favorite things to make/bake during the holidays?

I don’t bake, but I usually make sausage dip for Christmas. I love it too much to eat it a lot, but Christmas has become the time when I will make and eat it.

4. Favorite holiday movies?

The Grinch, Elf, White Christmas

5. Most random holiday tradition?

I don’t consider it random, but one of our holiday traditions is going to the local Symphony’s Christmas concert every year. We have attended every year, except for one, since it began in 1990.

6. Are you hosting for the holidays? New Year’s Eve or Day?

Not hosting anything LOL

7. Favorite way to ring in the New Year?

At home, in my PJs. I may or may not be awake.

8. Any New Year’s Resolutions or Word of the Year?

I haven’t really gotten that far yet. It may take a few days into the new year before I figure that out.

9. Favorite holiday songs?

“Christmas Canon” by Trans-Siberian Orchestra; “O Holy Night”; but really, I love (most) Christmas music.

10. Favorite holiday memory?

I would have to say the first time we went to the symphony’s Christmas concert. Another favorite memory would be the one year, when the roads were icy, and it was almost Christmas. We went shopping at Dollar General, and it is one of the Christmases I will remember. Everyone got practical, but useful, presents (there were already other presents under the tree too). I don’t know why that sticks out in my memories, but it does 🙂
