Our topic for this week is how our blogging/review style has changed over time. I started “blogging” back in 2009, but I use that term loosely to describe that time.

1. I am WAY more consistent with my blogging now.
I used to post whenever I felt like it. I wanted to have a blog, but I didn’t have it together, and I hadn’t thought it out beforehand.
2. I review the books I read.
Before, I was reading books but keeping my thoughts to myself. I realized that I relied on different reviews of books before deciding to read them, so why not provide my opinion too? My thoughts may be different from others, and all opinions on books help!
3. I only request books that interest me to review.
I was excited to read something before it was released, but that changed quickly. I realized I was wasting time on something I didn’t like when I could read something I did like.
4. I actually DNF books when I need to.
I still feel like I am failing to finish something when I have to DNF a book. But I remind myself that if I don’t like something, and keep reading, I am wasting time that I could spend reading something I like.
5. I have “improved” my book reviews.
I used to go into the details, giving the synopsis, but why do that when the author has already done that? Now, I give my opinion, and if I need to give details to support that, I will, without spoiling anything.
6. I now join in with many blog link-ups.
Before, I was trying to come up with content because I wanted to blog, but it was hard. Now, joining linkups helps me think of content, and it brings in more views.
7. I am better about planning posts ahead of time.
At the beginning of each month, I figure out what posts will be on what day, and I write and schedule them ahead of time. I haven’t perfected this yet (life happens), but I’m working on it.
8. There is more diversity in the book genres that I read and review.
I’m not even sure what I read more before (maybe mysteries?), but now, I seem to read a fair share of rom-coms, mysteries, and historical fiction. I did fit in quite a few biographies and autobiographies here and there.
9. I ramble less…most of the time.
I tend to ramble in conversation, but I try to get to the point on the blog. I hope this post hasn’t contradicted that HA!
10. I keep up with the books I read, and ratings/details for each.
I have a reading log, and when I start a book (or books), I will record the title, author, publisher, publication date, page count, etc. Then, when I finish, I record my thoughts and the rating I feel it should get.
