Hodgepodge with a Bowl of Queso [2.25.26]

Happy Wednesday, friends! It’s time for Joyce‘s Wednesday Hodgepodge linkup. Let’s do this!! Here are this week’s questions with my answers in italics.

1. America celebrates turning 250 years old this year. Primary cities set to lead the celebrations on July 4th are Boston, Philadelphia, New York, and Washington, D.C. Other significant locations for celebrating will be Charleston, SC, and the ‘historic triangle’, which includes Jamestown-Williamsburg-Yorktown, Virginia.

Of the cities listed, how many have you seen in person? Of the cities listed, which would you most like to visit this year? Any plans to do so? What’s one place in America you think everyone should see? If you’re not American, what’s one place in the US you’d like to see?

I have actually seen all of the ones listed. I spent the night in Boston on the way to and from Maine. I saw Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. during a school trip many years ago. I have been to New York multiple times. I believe I saw Jamestown-Williamsburg-Yorktown during the same school trip as Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. For many summers, we would visit Charleston, S.C., since it was very close to Folly Beach and the beach house we would rent.

I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing all of them this year, though I don’t see that happening.

I know there are probably other places, but I think one place everyone should see is Washington, D.C.

I am an American, but I would like to see Washington (state) and Oregon…all of both!

2. Three sounds you love to hear?

cats purring, babies/toddlers laughing, & my friends and family laughing and having a great time

3. Three sounds you hate to hear?

smacking, someone throwing up, and a car crash (blame it on PTSD from a past wreck)

4. February 24th is/was National Tortilla Chip Day. Are you a fan? With salsa, guacamole, queso, or just plain, please? Do you like nachos? With what on top? Is there anything (besides nachos) you make that calls for tortilla chips?

I am definitely a fan of tortilla chips! I can eat them any way, but my favorite is with queso.

I love nachos. I like them with just the nacho cheese, but I am also a fan of BBQ nachos 🙂

I do make sausage dip that can be eaten with tortilla chips.

5. We March into March with next week’s Hodgepodge…what’s one thing on your March calendar that makes you smile?

Recovery Revival & a special little guy’s birthday.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

It has reached the point in winter where I am over it. I am one of those that loves winter, but I do also get tired of it at some point. Am I ready for summer? Absolutely not, and will be wishing for winter (or at least fall) when it does arrive, but for now, I am over winter.

Oooooo. BBQ nachos sounds amazing! I absolutely hate the sound of someone throwing up too! Its so bad, when my kids were younger, I would have to stand outside the bathroom and roll them a bottle of water and toss a towel. I couldn’t go in there with them.

    Stopping by from the Hodgepodge!

It’s been cold here this winter which is unusual. Our gas bill is nuts, I’m sure because we’ve been running the heat non-stop along with the fireplace. I live about 4 hours from Charleston and would like another trip there. I’m putting that on my list for this year. Have a nice day!

  3. Karen

I enjoyed reading your answers, Rachel. I agree that every American should see Washington D.C. It is one of the few cities I would like to revisit.
I had to laugh at #2 of sounds you hate to hear. I remember hearing once that the best sound for an alarm clock is a dog throwing up! Gross, but it would definitely get me out of bed.
