It’s time to look at the book I read in February!

The AI-Powered Church – Anthony Hunt
★★★★.5
AI is something new and scares some people. Some even think it shouldn’t be used in churches. This book shows us that it is possible to use AI to help us creatively, to maximize our time, so that we use that time to shepherd His people, like we are called to do. We are also reminded not to use it as a crutch and not let it take the place of personal connections.
“Here’s a guiding principle I come back to again and again. AI can get you 60% of the way there. That means the prep work, the drafts, the structure, the raw ideas – AI handles that. Then you, and your human team, do the part only humans can do. You refine. You decide. You collaborate. You discern.”
After reading this, I realize that there is SO MUCH that AI can be helping me with!
Keeper of Lost Children – Sadeqa Johnson
★★★★.5
This story follows Ethel, the proud wife of an American soldier, Bert, in post-WWII Germany. Desperate to have a child but unable to conceive, she starts getting depressed, until she sees a group of mixed-race children following a nun. She becomes intrigued by their story.
We also follow Ozzie Phillips, who volunteers for the army, determined to break down barriers for Black soldiers. He finds that the racism he saw in his home state of Philadelphia has followed him overseas. He finds a place of peace in the arms of Jelka, a German woman who struggles herself, and cannot seem to find joy in her own country.
We later follow the life of Sophia Clark, who, despite her tough life on a farm, manages to get a scholarship to a prestigious boarding school in Maryland. In a chance meeting with a classmate, she soon discovers a secret about her own life.
Throughout the course of the book, we go back and forth through the lives of these individuals. What we see is that the vision and work of one American woman changes the lives of countless children, who would have otherwise been abandoned to “the system”.
I highly recommend this book! I couldn’t stop reading it!
